Four Generations
Charles and Ann Leggett started the business back in 1966, out of their home on Apple Tree Road in Camp Hill. Charlie worked for his grandfather in the hardware business then for the Phone Company along with his father Ernie.
Charlie worked under another plumber and earned his Master’s Plumbing License then went to work on his own, with Ann, his wife. Ernie Leggett retired from the phone company and helped out with the electrical calls. Within a year they hired another plumber, Jerry, then an apprentice, Tom, then they teamed up with a couple of heating experts to take on the heat repairs and installations.
In the mid 70’s Ernie Leggett, the current president, started with the company both in the field and in the office learning how all aspects of the business work together.
Matthew Leggett is the fourth generation to work with the company and he was trained by his grandfather early on. He learned what it takes to get a job done and to do it right the first time. He is working in the field and in the office to learn how the entire customer service process takes place so we can continue to service and continue the tradition for you long into the future.
Leggett, Inc. Today
Leggett has serviced many commercial and residential accounts. Companies that were serviced included IBM, Berg Electronics, then DuPont Electronics, Quaker Oats, Appleton Papers, Dauphin Deposit. Leggett had almost 30 employees to service them. Since then much has changed.
Customer service has always been the core of the Leggett Inc. mission. Much of what was learned from the phone company back in the 60’s has continued today and makes Leggett Inc. successful.
Leggett Inc. continues to be a pioneer in the industry with our of Peace of Mind Service Agreement program, long-running for over 25 years. The program allows us to give even better service with our planned maintenance program. Our technicians are happy to meet the demand of off-season work through our maintenance program, by meeting with customers to find and fix troubles long before they become an immediate issue.
